What’s in my lunchbox? Needs more colour

Oh dear this wasn't the most nutritious, well balanced or most colourful of lunches. What is was was the left overs from a camping trip.

  • Tortilla wraps filled with hummus and celery
  • Salted peanuts
  • Banana

Happily a chum made me soup from lots of green things for dinner to balance me out a bit!

In the last 7 days – junk food and naps

Another week has rushed by but it's had plenty going on.

I celebrated International Vegan Junk Food Day by visiting the Black Cat Cafe in Hackney and Cookies and Scream in Camden.

Then consumed more amazing vegan food at a pot luck on bank holiday Monday. Alas I failed to photograph the cinnamon rolls.

It wasn't all food though. I also napped lots….

And began to prepare for a camping trip I'm taking soon.

Finally I'm still working on staying away from my desk at lunchtime by walking in the park while I listen to a podcast – nature + exercise + learning = calmer happier afternoons

Take of yourselves this week,

Annastasia

What’s in my lunchbox? Pot luck

My freezer defrosted itself on Friday and refused to start working again until the morning (Tuesday). Worse still I only realised it wasn't working as it should when I opened the door to chuck a load of produce in. So I currently have a fridge stuffed full of both fresh food and food I salvaged, and a sink and sides covered with dirty pans from cooking up anything I could.

In other news I went to a rather lovely vegan pot luck and celebrated International vegan junk food day. It's certainly been a weekend full of food.

Clockwise from top right of this blurry photo:

  • Cashew cheese
  • Figs baked with agave syrup and black pepper. So subtle yet so full of flavour.
  • Fennel flatbreads – these were supposed to be crackers but just aren't crunchy.
  • Apple, celery and radish – garnish for cashew cheese laden flat breads

To read: Francesco's Venice by Francesco Da Mosto

I'm preparing for a trip to Venice so this had been great. It's easy to read, is giving me a wonderful picture of how Venice with it's Doges and concil of ten came to be and it has very good pictures. I must finish it before I go!

In the last seven days – mostly food

It's been a bit of a busy week but happily there's been plenty of good food to get me through.

I started the weekend with a walk to make up for all the lunchtime ones that I've missed.

You do find the most curious things while one exploring your neighbourhood.

As well as the most delicious things. Whilst I rummaged in a basket of free fruit the owner appeared and invited me in to pick my own windfalls.

Naturally I spent some time cooking both in the morning before eating this breakfast of pancakes, baked apricots and coconut cream…

And in the evening before a midnight supper of BBQ cauliflower, courgette salad, minty green salad and little fried potatoes.

And this week I got in on Cheesecake Wednesday action at the Den – and it was utterly delicious.

Take care of yourselves,

Annastasia
